How to care for deciduous flowering plants in winter

As the saying goes, harvest in autumn and store in winter. In winter, most insects are dormant, and plants are no exception, so caring for flowers in winter favors stillness over movement, and laziness over diligence:

For deciduous flowering plants in winter, it is enough simply to keep them from freezing and drying out.

Field-planted flowers. For field-planted ones, to keep them warm you can cover them with grass and mulch film. Before winter arrives, loosen the soil and weed, water thoroughly, thoroughly clear away dead branches and fallen leaves, and simply keep the environment clean. For large arbor trees and flowering trees, you can whitewash the trunks, and prune and shape them before budding.

Potted flowers and trees. If they are not cold-tolerant, you can move potted deciduous flowering plants indoors (outdoor temperatures must not be too high), control water and stop fertilizing, do not water unless dry, and water thoroughly when you do.

How to care for evergreen flowering trees in winter?

Evergreen flowering trees still need light in winter; outdoor field-planted management is the same as for deciduous flowering plants. For light-loving evergreen potted plants, they need to be placed under a south-facing or east-facing window or in a sunroom (the temperature must not be too high, which would affect dormancy) to receive light. The placement should be well ventilated but not directly facing a draft, and the position should be fixed; do not move them too frequently, which would cause the flowers to become unaccustomed. Keep the potting soil moist but on the dry side; do not water unless dry. During dormancy, generally do not fertilize.
