National Gathering of Soil and Water Conservation Service Corps: Taichung City Government Warmly Invites Participation in 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival

On the 14th, the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, and Taichung City jointly held the "National Gathering of Soil and Water Conservation Service Corps," inviting nearly 200 representatives from soil and water conservation service corps in 21 counties and cities nationwide to Taichung to participate in this quadrennial event. Chen Ruchang, Deputy Secretary-General of the Taichung City Government, thanked the corps members for their dedication and contribution to soil and water conservation affairs, and encouraged them to continue implementing soil and water resource conservation. He also took the opportunity to promote the 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Taichung and invited everyone to join the celebration.

The event was jointly inaugurated by Li Zhenyang, Director-General of the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, Deputy Secretary-General Chen of the City Government, and Fan Shiyi, Director-General of the Water Resources Bureau.

Deputy Secretary-General Chen Ruchang stated that he was very pleased to co-host this grand event with the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau of the Council of Agriculture this year. In order to deepen the concept of soil and water conservation into communities, Taichung City this year not only conducted outreach lectures in communities through Mandarin or Minnan, but also for the first time conducted soil and water conservation outreach in communities with larger Hakka or indigenous populations using Hakka and indigenous languages. In the future, this will be expanded to more communities to make soil and water conservation outreach more grounded. The city will also continue to proactively and actively promote soil and water conservation management work, implementing soil and water resource conservation and homeland security.

Deputy Secretary-General Chen Ruchang also took the opportunity to invite everyone to come to Taichung for the 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival. The main exhibition areas will be at the Houli Racecourse and Forest Park, with the exhibition period running from February 8 to February 23 next year. The themes include Rainforest Secret Realm and Art Imagination World, showcasing imagery of ecological sustainability, artistic aesthetics, technological intelligence, and traditional innovation.
