New Opportunities for Chiayi Premium Fresh: Going South to Singapore to Push Exports

To open up emerging overseas markets, Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang went on October 23 to the sweet pepper export collection site in Xingang Township to promote Chiayi County's seasonal fresh vegetables and fruits and processed agricultural products to Yijiewei Agricultural Products Co., Ltd. and Singapore's NTUC FairPrice Co-operative Limited supermarket, hoping to enable "Chiayi Premium Fresh" agricultural specialties to be supplied steadily to the Singapore market.

Chiayi County is committed to overseas promotion and marketing of its premium fresh agricultural specialties. Starting October 21, for one consecutive week, 43 products from 21 businesses were sold at Singapore's Prime Supermarket, and the sales response was enthusiastic. To continue expanding the Singapore market, on the 23rd the county government matched Yijiewei Agricultural Products Co., Ltd. and NTUC FairPrice Co-operative Limited supermarket with a visit to the production-area collection site to purchase seasonal agricultural products, including sweet peppers from Xingang Township, green-skinned ponkan mandarins and liucheng oranges from Zhuqi Township and Meishan Township, greenhouse-grown Yu-Nu tomatoes, and camellia oil from the Meishan Tea Oil Production Cooperative, among other items.

Lin Wei-fa, purchasing manager of NTUC FairPrice Co-operative Limited supermarket, pointed out that Chiayi County has many excellent agricultural specialties, among which Yu-Nu tomatoes made us feel they are very special. Singapore has a great many varieties of tomatoes, but this variety did not yet exist there. We look forward to close cooperation in the future, and we have confidence in Chiayi's agricultural products.

Magistrate Weng Chang-liang said that regarding Yijiewei Agricultural Products Co., Ltd. and Singapore's NTUC FairPrice Co-operative Limited supermarket, we can be said to be very happy that they are satisfied with Chiayi County's agricultural specialties. We hope to maintain the supply and marketing system over the long term, coming to Chiayi to purchase vegetables, fruits and processed products, and future cooperation can be said to be just around the corner.
