The 2019 Nantou World Tea Expo came to a perfect close on the 20th. Over the 11-day exhibition period, both visitor numbers and revenue hit new records, with nearly 600,000 visitors and sales reaching 85 million yuan, both showing substantial increases over last year. It created unlimited creativity and outstanding results, won recognition from all sectors, and set another peak for Nantou County's tea industry.
The closing ceremony was held on the afternoon of the 20th at Zhongxing Hall. During his speech, County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen especially thanked the farmers' associations of all townships, towns and cities, as well as all the tea farmers and tea lovers who assisted and participated, for their support, which allowed the Tea Expo to reach new heights, enabling local residents and tea farmers to earn money and bringing business opportunities to Nantou. This year's biggest feature was that air conditioning was installed in all exhibition venues, and the venues were all concentrated around the main field, connected by wooden boardwalks into a pedestrian zone, making visitor flow smooth, enlarging the exhibition space, and giving tourists a more comfortable visiting environment. Every event was packed to capacity, and next year the tea fragrance will certainly continue to be passed on.
At the closing ceremony, in addition to a wonderful indigenous dance performance by the Xilieke Culture and Arts Troupe, a tea sealing ceremony was also held at the end under everyone's witness. Deputy County Magistrate Chen Cheng-sheng and Chairman Chen Wen-yi together sealed the activity tea of this year's 2019 Tea Expo into jars, symbolizing the preservation and continuation of the event.
Over the past 10 years, the Tea Expo has been organized by the Lugu Township Farmers' Association. Association Chairman Chen Wen-yi stated that the Tea Expo must innovate every year, think of better ideas and create topics to attract more visitors. He thanked the county government for leading the tea farmers to build this annual grand event together, and said they would continue to work hard next year, hoping everyone would keep supporting them and create another peak for the tea industry.
