The watermelon seedlings bought in early April were originally grown in plug trays; after the seedlings developed, they were moved into small pots so the roots could develop better. When transplanting, first prepare the nursery plot, then cover it with silver-black plastic mulch, cut holes in it, bury basal fertilizer first, then plant the small seedlings in, and then water the soil until moist. Because the sun was strong and the temperature was high at transplanting time, baskets were first placed over them to prevent the seedlings from being sunburned, to stabilize the growing environment, and they were watered every day.
Growing diary:
Day 6 after transplanting the watermelon seedlings to the nursery plot, the vines had already grown longer
Day 8 after transplanting the watermelon seedlings to the nursery plot, the vines began to climb
Day 21 after transplanting the watermelon seedlings to the nursery plot, the watermelon had begun to flower, but because it had been raining for the past few days, pollination had not yet succeeded; wait for the weather to clear before pollinating
Day 27 after transplanting the watermelon seedlings to the nursery plot, topdressing had been applied, the watermelon vines grew more and more vigorously, and more flowers bloomed
A successfully pollinated female flower, the fruit is growing
The part of the watermelon facing downward is white, and as it begins to ripen, the color gradually turns yellow. The yellower the color, the higher the sweetness. You must wait until the small tendril connecting the watermelon to the main vine begins to wither before harvesting
