Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che: Industry-Government-Academia Cooperation Helps Youth Connect Schooling with Employment

To narrow the gap between what young students learn and what they use, and to help students make a seamless transition from schooling to employment, the Tainan City Labor Affairs Bureau has been actively building an industry-government-academia cooperation platform to match enterprises with schools. Yesterday (the 3rd), it held the "Tainan City - Industry-Government-Academia Cooperation Signing Ceremony Press Conference." Mayor Huang Wei-che, Jiang Bao Industrial Co., Ltd. Chairman Hsu Kuo-sung, Chung Hwa University of Medical Technology President Tseng Hsin-chao, Tainan University of Technology President Huang Tsung-cheng, Kun Shan University Vice President Huang Kuo-hsien, and Chia Nan University of Pharmacy & Science President Chen Hung-chu jointly signed a "Memorandum of Cooperation." Through three major training strategies - "industry mentor teaching," "corporate internships," and "talent retention and cultivation" - industry, government, and academia will work together to cultivate more outstanding local talent to stay in Tainan for development, so that together they can make a living and enjoy a good life in Tainan.

The Tainan City Labor Affairs Bureau stated that through the three major training cooperation strategies of "industry mentor teaching," "corporate internships," and "talent retention and cultivation," young students can receive personal guidance from industry mentors at school and gain practical experience through internships in industry. Students will simultaneously possess work experience and social experience, and can enter the workplace earlier to secure a position, gradually becoming regular employees from the internship stage, then participating in the company's assessment mechanism, and further becoming key talent cultivated by the company. This time, Jiang Bao Industrial Co., Ltd. provided 25 internship positions and 30 summer work-study opportunities, allowing students to "find employment" while still "in school." After graduation, students can be directly retained by the company, reducing the gap between learning and application; as well as Chung Hwa University of Medical Technology, Tainan University of Technology, Kun Shan University, and Chia Nan University of Pharmacy & Science, which are dedicated to talent cultivation and actively assist students in interning in industry to improve their job competencies.
