Taoyuan Holds Renewable Energy Carnival for the First Time, Showcasing the Momentum of Green Energy Industry Development
Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan went to the outdoor plaza of the Hakka Canteen at the Taoyuan Agriculture Expo yesterday (the 1st) in the afternoon to attend the "2019 Renewable Energy Carnival and Green Ark Pavilion Tour Press Conference." Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said that the Taoyuan Agriculture Expo this year (108th year of the Republic of China) is entering its 3rd year, and the city government is jointly holding a renewable energy carnival with the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT) for the first time, hoping to promote various applications of renewable energy and let everyone understand the importance of energy transition. This is also the first time the ECCT Low Carbon Initiative has held an event in Taoyuan. Europe has made many efforts in energy transition, and Taoyuan is very willing to cooperate with the EU so that Taiwan's future green energy transition can be done better.
Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan pointed out that there are multiple wind power and solar power facilities in the Agriculture Expo park. Through the power storage system, the park's power generation is completely self-sufficient, using 100% green electricity, and all 16 exhibition halls in the entire park have obtained carbon footprint certification, establishing a national first as a model low-carbon certified expo, and it is also the third expo in the world to obtain carbon footprint certification. The Green Ark Pavilion is one of the few main exhibition halls built in the form of a permanent building. The overall building starts from the design concept of green architecture and combines the four major elements of energy: "wind, light, water, and green," such as wind power and water recycling systems and other green energy, showcasing the characteristics of the circular economy. In the future, Taoyuan will continue to move toward the goals of circular economy and sustainable development.
After the meeting, Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan also visited the Green Ark Pavilion to offer encouragement, wishing the exhibition success and hoping to attract more people to learn about Taoyuan's industries together.
