How to beautify an entrance with flowers?

The entrance is like the face of a home or an institution, and from it one can reflect the spiritual outlook of the owner. Therefore, those who have the means all try to decorate it so it looks fresh and elegant. Using flowers to add brilliance and color to an entrance, however, is not something that can be done casually and still achieve satisfactory results. When arranging them in practice, it is suggested to refer to the following key points.

North and south differ: In the south, many flowers do not wither through the winter, which makes choosing suitable species much more convenient. In the north, however, most flowers either wither or lose their leaves because of the severe winter cold, or are moved indoors. At that time, unless cold-tolerant plants such as Chinese juniper, boxwood, Chinese savin, and cedar are temporarily put in their place, it is impossible to bring greenery to the entrance.

Left-right symmetry: The floral decoration of the entrance should be symmetrical from left to right. If a vat of lotus is placed on the left side of the door and several pots of canna are placed on the right side, the area beside the entrance will look messy. Therefore, the flowers placed there must meet the requirement that the left side of the door corresponds to the right side in terms of species, containers, height, number, and so on.

Value innovation: Whether in the choice of flowers or in their shaping, one should pursue novelty and avoid being all the same. Otherwise, after seeing someone else's entrance and then looking at yours, people will find it impossible to become interested. Do not blindly follow others; choosing a few sunflowers that chase the sun, or a pair of small animals shaped from wisteria, will add endless charm to your own entrance.

Adapt to local conditions: In a private courtyard, planting a few vines of Boston ivy or trumpet creeper and letting them climb up by the door, or a few brightly colored amaranth or globe amaranth, can make the entrance richly charming. For institutions and enterprises, however, large potted plants should be used, such as sago palm, rubber tree, fishtail palm, and broadleaf lady palm, or a flowerbed filled with blooming flowers and patterns made from five-colored grass, so that the area in front of the entrance does not appear empty and gives people a sense of beauty.
