2019 Taipei Beef Noodle International Competition

Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je presided over a press conference at City Hall on the afternoon of the 24th on the results of the "2019 Taipei Beef Noodle International Tasting Competition," and presented awards to this year's champion, the longtime establishment "Royal Heritage," the runner-up "Taiwan Yi Pin," and the third-place winner "General Niu Snack Shop." In his speech, Mayor Ko Wen-je said that beef noodles are a signature dish of Taipei, loved not only by Taipei residents but also by tourists from around the world, making it a must-eat food for visitors coming to Taipei.

Mayor Ko Wen-je pointed out that the preliminary round of this competition had 56 entrants, from which 10 were selected in the semifinals, and only 3 made it to the final round. He had just taken a look at today's final-round judges, and they were quite special: not only Taiwanese judges, but also judges from Russia and France, in the hope that through judges of different nationalities, the Taipei Beef Noodle Festival could become more international.

Mayor Ko Wen-je mentioned that since the 104th year of the Republic of China, Taipei City has provided subsidies to assist the Taipei Beef Noodle Exchange and Development Association in organizing beef noodle industry promotion activities, hoping that through such long-term efforts, beef noodles can attract more tourists, especially foreign tourists, to raise Taipei's international profile.

Finally, Mayor Ko Wen-je thanked the Taipei Beef Noodle Exchange and Development Association for its years of dedication to promoting Taipei's beef noodle industry, not only bringing shops together but also actively nurturing new establishments, hoping that through cooperation with the city government, beef noodles can become famous overseas and become one of Taipei's city trademarks.
