Changhua County's First All-Coast Plastic-Reduction Joint Beach Cleanup, Joining Hands Together to Protect the Ocean

For a sustainable and beautiful ocean, the "2019 Changhua All-Coast Plastic-Reduction Joint Beach Cleanup" activity, jointly organized by the Changhua County Aquaculture Association, the Changhua County Wild Bird Society, the Changhua County Environmental Protection Union, and the Changbin Industrial Park Management and Service Center, was launched jointly on the morning of the 22nd in four areas: north (Shengang, Xianxi), central (Fuxing, Fangyuan), south (Dacheng), and the Changbin Industrial Park (Lukang, Xianxi). The cleanup area extended from the Dadu River estuary in the north to the Zhuoshui River estuary in the south, mobilizing more than 300 civil groups and over 6,000 people from Changhua County and city to take part in the beach cleanup. Changhua County Magistrate Wang Huimei, activity convener Lin Chao-sui, chairman of Taimingjiang Enterprise Co., Ltd., Yang Jinfu, chairman of the Changhua County Aquaculture Association, and Chen Yidun, director-general of the Changhua County Aquaculture Association and county councilor, and others came early in the morning to the Taiwan Hanbao Garden Wetland Ecological Cultural and Creative Education Park to cheer on the cleanup participants. Magistrate Wang Huimei thanked the cleanup participants for their good deeds and called on the public to reduce the use of plastic items such as straws, plastic bags, and PET bottles, to reduce the harm garbage causes to the ocean.

Activity convener Lin Chao-sui, chairman of Taimingjiang Enterprise Co., Ltd., pointed out that Taiwan's coast has recently had a lot of garbage, which not only pollutes the island but also brings catastrophe to the ecology, so we have held beach cleanup activities for many consecutive years. This year, the cleanup held in the third lunar month mobilized 1,200 people and received attention from the central government, so various relevant departments also devoted themselves to this "2019 Changhua All-Coast Plastic-Reduction Joint Beach Cleanup." This time the cleanup mobilized more than 6,000 people in total, divided into four areas. This will be the largest beach cleanup activity in Taiwan's history. It is hoped that through this cleanup, Changhua's coast will become the most beautiful demonstration area among the coasts of all counties, cities, townships, and towns in Taiwan, and that through this cleanup a demonstration effect can be achieved, so that residents of Taiwan can all value this land, and every county and city can join in the beach cleanup, showing big hands holding small hands and joint beach cleanup loving Taiwan.
