To chart a new direction for Kaohsiung's future industrial development, the Kaohsiung City Economic Development Bureau convened the "Kaohsiung Industrial and Economic Advisory Consultation Meeting" on the 18th, co-chaired by Executive Yuan Deputy Premier Du Zi-jun and Economic Development Bureau Director Fu He-zhong. More than 10 heavyweight experts and scholars attended, including representatives from the southern branch of the Listed Companies Association, industrial and business associations such as the Industry and Commerce Development Research Association, corporate think tanks and schools. Through discussion and exchange among the attending representatives, the meeting helped the city government focus on its policy of developing Kaohsiung into a digital capital and its trade and economic expansion strategy.
At this expert symposium, Chen Zhi-ren, Vice President of Nomura Research Institute Taiwan, shared "Japan's Promotion of Urban Digital Transformation." Drawing on Japan's development experience, he proposed that in order to help enterprises introduce digital transformation, existing issues in two areas - corporate business strategy and IT systems - must be resolved to achieve good implementation results. In addition, the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research shared "Kaohsiung's Urban Development Priorities and Development Vision," proposing development visions such as moving toward becoming a digital capital by 2022, building a young smart port city, and shaping a hub of high-value industries, as well as moving toward a digital economy innovation city that drives industrial transformation and fulfilling specific goals of deepening digital technology and activating digital transformation.
Economic Development Bureau Director Fu He-zhong said he thanked the attending think tank scholars and experts for proposing concrete directions for Kaohsiung's digital city development vision. The city government will continue to lead Kaohsiung toward becoming a digital capital and opening up new paths for economic development. Kaohsiung has an excellent geographical location, a solid industrial foundation and emerging software technology parks. By "applying both soft and hard measures," Kaohsiung can become a world-class city for digital industry development. Kaohsiung's development requires everyone to work together, and it is also necessary to strengthen its appeal to young people, make citizens feel the difference, and guide industry to unleash new momentum.
