Judging the dry-wet cycle in flower care

"See dry" in flower growing means that after watering several times, once the moisture inside has basically receded and the soil surface has already turned white, you can water again; you can judge by tapping the outside of the pot and listening to the sound - if it is very crisp, it means it is dry, and you can also stick a finger into the soil to judge. "See wet" means that every time you water the flowers you must water thoroughly, always watering until water can drain out from the bottom of the pot; you cannot just water half-way.

Judging the dry-wet cycle in flower care

I. See dry

"See dry" means that after watering several times, once most of the moisture inside has receded and the soil surface has already turned white, you can water again; there is no need to wait until all the potting soil has dried out before watering. To judge whether it is dry, you can flick the outside of the pot with your finger; a crisp sound means it is dry inside, while a dull sound means there is still moisture inside. You can also stick a finger in to feel the condition of the soil; if it is dry inside, you can water.

II. See wet

"See wet" means that every time you water the flowers you must water thoroughly; you cannot just water half-way, to avoid the situation where the top is very wet while the bottom is still dry. For a plant growing vigorously, the roots that absorb water are usually concentrated at the bottom of the pot; if you only water half-way, the water cannot reach the roots, which is equivalent to not watering at all. So each time, once the soil is dry, you can water thoroughly, always until water can drain out from the bottom of the pot.

III. Common problems

Generally, watering follows this principle, but it cannot be applied uniformly; not all flowers are suited to this method, and you must choose a suitable method according to the characteristics of the flowers. You also need to judge according to the climate and soil; in summer you can water a bit more, and in winter you can control water appropriately.
