Duck Aroma Fills the Duck Countryside: First "Yilan Duck Meat Noodle" Competition Kicks Off

Yilan's duck farming families have a history of more than a hundred years. The fine mountains and waters produce the highest-quality duck meat, which has earned Yilan the reputation of "Duck Countryside." The Yilan County-government-guided Yilan County Duck Raising Production Cooperative's Duck Countryside Duck Aroma event is now in its 13th year. This year, for the first time, the event holds a competition themed around "Yilan Duck Meat Noodles," calling on the county's best cooks to take on the challenge and reinterpret the good flavor remembered from the past.

Yilan County-government- stated that it hopes this duck meat noodle competition will let more high-quality duck meat noodle shops and their creativity be seen, interpreting different flavors for duck meat noodles and, following cherry roast duck, setting off another new revolution in duck meat cuisine.

A press conference for the event was held at the county government on the 10th. A professional judging panel was formed by teacher Xu Liangmin of Lanyang Institute of Technology, state banquet head chef Chen Zhaolin, and food expert Professor Xie Shufen, among others. Together with County Magistrate Lin Zimiao, they cooked the first bowl of duck meat noodles of the Duck Countryside Duck Aroma event, symbolizing the official start of the event.

The "Yilan Duck Meat Noodle" competition is divided into 2 groups: the Physical Store Group for Yilan-based entrants with physical storefronts, and the Unlimited Creativity Group for those without physical storefronts. Registration for the competition runs until September 23. In the first stage of judging, the professional judging panel scores first, accounting for 70% of the total score, with taste, appearance, creativity and price as the key scoring points. The remaining 30% of the score will be decided by public tasting and voting on November 2 at the main event venue of Duck Countryside Duck Aroma, the Zhongxing Cultural and Creative Park. Online registration for public judges for the duck meat noodle competition opens starting today, with only 300 places available. Duck meat-loving "hardcore fans" should hurry and join in!
