Xu Chengyu / A fishery civics lesson the white ribbonfish taught us! How do we take back the serve on exporting the catch?

The policy pre-announcement allowing white ribbonfish to be shipped directly to China triggered widespread public discussion, with more than 5,000 signatures pouring in within two days opposing unlimited exports of white ribbonfish. Council of Agriculture Minister Chen Chi-chung responded swiftly, saying, "The government has heard the plea for the white ribbonfish," and before the pre-announcement period ended (August 8), he urgently convened a 3-hour forum, inviting the petition-initiating groups, academia, officials, and industry to hold discussions. Minister Chen Chi-chung promised on the spot that "before the participants reach a consensus, the (draft on exporting white ribbonfish to China) will not be hastily implemented."

Many items were discussed that day; some reached consensus, while some major issues remained unresolved. On behalf of the petition initiators, I have organized the important content to provide the public for reference. The Council of Agriculture is expected to convene another forum next week, and the petitioners will continue to participate and update everyone on progress. Before the white ribbonfish crisis is completely resolved, please continue to care and forward the petition, calling on more people to join the white ribbonfish citizen movement.
