Let's be sea kings together! Fishermen's Festival celebration kicks off at Hsinchu Fishing Harbor on the 10th

To promote Hsinchu's seafood cuisine and ocean conservation, the Hsinchu City Government and the Hsinchu District Fishermen's Association will hold the "108th Year Ocean Resource Conservation and Fisheries Culture Promotion and Fishermen's Festival Celebration Event" on Saturday the 10th at the Hsinchu Fishing Harbor Direct Sales Center. A promotional press conference was held yesterday (the 7th). The Department of Economic Development said that since it coincides with the summer vacation, a "I Am a Sea King" fisheries culture experience has been specially arranged for children, inviting adults and children to play "one-day crew members" and learn basic fishing skills. There is also the public's favorite "Iceberg Treasure Dig" for redeeming sea-catch gift vouchers, along with 600 free servings of fish dishes and the release of 40,000 black sea bream fry. The public is invited to participate enthusiastically.

The Department of Economic Development said that surrounding activities will be held on the day of the event for the public to enjoy together. In addition to providing 600 free servings of fish dishes for the public to taste, the "Iceberg Treasure Dig" activity will fill a large inflatable pool with plenty of crushed ice and capsule toys containing redemption vouchers, allowing gloved members of the public to dig for treasure themselves. It is one of the public's favorite activities. The activity will be held in three sessions, with ten people per session, timed at one minute each. Those who dig up a prize can go to the service desk to redeem a small gift. Registration is on-site; those who wish to participate can sign up at the service desk and fill in their information, cooling off together in the hot summer.

In addition, this year specially features parent-child fun challenge games such as "I Am a Sea King," "Genius Rope King," and "Fish, Fish, Swimming in the Water," letting children try to remove knots hung on mooring bollards along the shore, learn methods of tying ropes, and use sponges to absorb water and squeeze it into buckets to make fishing floats meet the target. Challenge cards can be obtained at each station, limited to 500 cards. After completing the challenges, participants can join a parent-child DIY activity for free. Director-General Tung Chin-chieh said that because Hsinchu Fishing Harbor is affected by tides, the tidal range is as high as 3 or 4 meters, and multiple fishing boats share one mooring bollard for berthing. How to securely tie ropes at the harbor edge without affecting other fishing boats' use is a daily skill for qualified crew members. Activities such as "I Am a Sea King" and "Genius Rope King" let the public experience fishermen's daily work.
