Keelung City - the nation's first cruise sightseeing shuttle

Keelung City - launches the nation's first cruise sightseeing shuttle, which will officially begin service today (the 24th) when the Diamond Princess docks! A press conference was held at the city government yesterday (the 23rd). Mayor Lin Yu-chang said that in the future, foreign tourists taking cruises to Keelung can use the cruise sightseeing shuttle and package tickets to tour Keelung freely.

Mayor Lin Yu-chang pointed out that in response to the growing number of cruise passengers, the city government, in cooperation with the port company, cruise operators, the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology, and food and beverage businesses, has launched this new trial. Most passengers on cruise ships docking at the port are foreign tourists, and after disembarking they can freely choose and purchase rides using bus tickets and package tickets to tour as they wish. If the trial results are good, it will be expanded in the future.

The one-day bus ticket includes onboard foreign-language guided commentary, and the ticket can be redeemed for one free Far Eastern Bubble Ice. In addition, combining Heping Island Park and the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology, and integrating bus tickets, admission tickets, an audio guide app, dining and afternoon tea, three package tickets are offered - the "Heping Island Afternoon Tea One-Day Ticket," the "Heping Island Food One-Day Ticket," and the "National Museum of Marine Science and Technology Chaojing One-Day Ticket" - for tourists to freely choose and purchase.

To make travel in Keelung more convenient for independent travelers, the Department of Transportation and Tourism said the city government is working with the Keelung Port Branch to pilot the cruise sightseeing shuttle, which departs when cruise ships dock at Keelung Port, running every 40 minutes to seamlessly connect cruise tourists for touring Keelung. The shuttle departs from the Tourist Service Center and passes through the Keelung Port Building, Zhengbin Fishing Port, Heping Island Park and the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology.

In addition to the current trial itinerary serving cruise passengers on cruise docking days, consideration will also be given in the future to launching regular daily departures at fixed times and stops, offering both international market and domestic independent travelers an easy way to explore Keelung.
