World Chocolate Asia-Pacific Competition in Pingtung, County Magistrate Strives to Drive Industry Upgrading

The 2019 World Chocolate Awards Asia-Pacific Competition will be held in Pingtung County. On the 15th, the Pingtung County -, the Hakka Affairs Council, the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau of the Council of Agriculture of the Executive Yuan and other units invited people from industry, government and academia in the cacao sector to hold a video press conference together with ICA Chocolate Competition Chairman Martin Christy, officially announcing the launch of the 2019 World Chocolate Awards Asia-Pacific Competition. County Magistrate Pan Meng-an emphasized that Taiwan's cacao industry has already begun to stand out on the world stage, and in the future it will gradually carry out local industry upgrading.

County Magistrate Pan Meng-an said that the International Chocolate Awards (ICA) holds judging in more than 10 regions around the world, including the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom, and after selecting regional representatives it then holds the global finals. It is currently the chocolate competition covering the widest area, and is also recognized by the industry as the largest and most credible event. Pingtung County - has long promoted the development of the cacao industry, obtained the right to host the 2019 World Chocolate Awards Asia-Pacific Competition, and is co-organizing it with the Hakka Affairs Council and the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau of the Council of Agriculture of the Executive Yuan to promote the cacao industry and lead the local industry toward internationalization.

The Hakka Affairs Department of Pingtung County said that for the 2019 World Chocolate Competition Asia-Pacific Competition, the finals will be held from August 31 to September 5 at Meiho University in Pingtung for judging of the entries, and the awards ceremony will be held on September 7, when the list of winners of the 2019 Asia-Pacific competition will be announced. At that time, all Asia-Pacific participants and judges will be invited to attend, and it will be a grand and solemn chocolate feast.
