New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih visits Sanxia green bamboo shoot collection center, encourages public to buy more

Concerned about agricultural produce marketing channels, New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih visited the Qingguo Cooperative's Sanxia green bamboo shoot collection center yesterday (the 9th), and experienced the processes of grading and sorting, pre-cooling, and boxing. He stated that June to September each year is the peak season for green bamboo shoots, one of New Taipei's Three Health Treasures. In recent years, through the joint efforts of the city government and farmers' associations in each district, the city's production area has continued to increase, with annual output reaching 12,757 metric tons, making it the largest production area in the country. He welcomed all citizens to buy more and taste more of New Taipei's "white, curved, short, plump" quality shoots.

Mayor Hou Yu-ih said that through the professional guidance of the farmers' association, the quality of green bamboo shoots produced by Sanxia farmers has been maintained at a high standard, and this year they even won the honors of New Taipei Bamboo Shoot King and Beautiful Bamboo Shoot King. He also thanked the Qingguo Cooperative for establishing the green bamboo shoot collection center in the Sanxia area, helping farmers find sales channels.

The New Taipei City Agriculture Department stated that in addition to Sanxia, the farmers' associations in Bali and Wugu Districts also operate two green bamboo shoot morning direct sales centers, purchasing the freshest local green bamboo shoots, while farmers' associations in other production areas also guide shoot farmers in self-production and self-sales.

To promote green bamboo shoots, New Taipei City has partnered with farmers' associations in various production areas to launch a "Field Kitchen - One-Day Bamboo Shoot Picking Tour" suitable for families, allowing the public to not only experience the fun of picking bamboo shoots but also make delicious dishes themselves in the fields.
