Taichung City 4-H Food and Agriculture Summer Camp Kicks Off, Letting Teenagers Experience Agriculture

The 4-H Club is an organization through which farmers' associations in each district of Taichung cultivate young people to enter agriculture. To help 4-H youth better understand agriculture, the Taichung City Agriculture Bureau guided the Taichung City Farmers' Association in holding the "4-H Food and Agriculture Summer Camp" yesterday (the 3rd) and tomorrow in Shigang, Dongshi and Heping Districts. With the theme "Riding Iron Horses X Jumping Around Rural Villages," the camp arranged activities such as agricultural experiences, farming operations, camp obstacle-course treasure hunts and agricultural identification contests, hoping to increase teenagers' interest in agriculture.

The Taichung City Agriculture Bureau said this activity lasts two days and one night, with a total of 130 4-H members from 22 district farmers' associations under Taichung participating. Through riding iron horses, they take short trips deep into leisure agriculture attractions, and agricultural observation is also arranged so that members can exchange and compare agricultural techniques and enhance their agricultural knowledge.

The Taichung City Agriculture Bureau pointed out that the 4-H Club has cultivated countless outstanding agricultural youths in the past and has made considerable contributions to improving farming skills and promoting food and agriculture education. Its members are the seed troops of agriculture and the inheritors of future agriculture. It is hoped that through the "4-H Food and Agriculture Summer Camp" activity, the feelings of 4-H members from all over Taichung will be brought together and agricultural development will be driven forward.
