An Introduction to Water Treatment Technologies for Flower Irrigation Water
In modern horticultural cultivation, especially in the high-end flower industry, the requirements for irrigation water quality are very high. Whether the source water is river water, well water, or tap water, different levels of water treatment are needed according to the growth habits of the crops to meet their specific growth needs.
The treatment processes and equipment usually used are as follows:
1. Demineralization equipment
Horticulture has certain requirements for water conductivity, generally requiring ≤0.2ms/cm. For water sources unsuitable for flower cultivation, passing through a certain desalination system is very necessary.
2. Water softening equipment
In some areas, the water is relatively hard and unsuitable for planting or other uses. A softening device can effectively reduce water hardness to meet different water use requirements. Softening equipment is strictly designed, and the accuracy of the resin regeneration cycle directly affects the effluent water quality and the degree of cost savings (if the cycle is too long, the effluent water quality is poor; if the cycle is too short, the resin utilization rate is low).
3. Iron and manganese removal equipment
For source water with excessive iron, manganese, or boron content, specialized iron and manganese removal and boron removal equipment is needed.
4. Sand filter
For water sources with a lot of suspended solids and sediment, if water is directly drawn for irrigation, it can easily clog sprinklers, drippers, and other emitters, and may even damage the pump. Therefore, using a sand filter for primary filtration treatment is very necessary.
In addition, for the landscape water features of ecological restaurants, regular filtration is needed to prevent the green algae and other substances produced from affecting the entire restaurant's dining environment and lowering the restaurant's quality. It should be noted that the model of the sand filter must be strictly designed and selected (it must be designed by professional designers).
5. Special acid-base adjustment device for horticulture
Different flowers have different requirements for water pH. To meet the water needs of various flowers and on the premise of ensuring that nutrient absorption is not affected, a pH adjustment device is installed at the equipment's water outlet terminal to ensure the optimal growth conditions for plants.
