Compared with large-scale flower arrangement exhibitions and competitions, home flower arranging is more free and relaxed. As long as you have fresh flowers and fresh flowers on hand, plus peace of mind, you can arrange flower work. But do you know how to keep your flower arrangement blooming more beautifully and for a longer time?

Most homeowners place one vase or a large amount of fresh flowers at home, and the fresh flowers have a very short lifespan, lasting a week at most and two days at least, especially in summer, when the blooming period is even shorter. How can the blooming time be maintained? How long is it?

 1. Selection of materials. The hydration date of flowers is related to the habits of the flowers themselves. Different flowers have different tolerance for their blooms. Some flowers can only last 2 to 3 days, while nandina can stay fresh for 1 month. When selecting flower branches, you should choose seventy or eighty percent open flowers and also place flower branches with buds. Flowering branches that have already opened or are close to full bloom are not suitable. After cutting the flower branches, avoid long periods of wind and rain and direct sunlight to prevent the leaves from wilting, but insert them into a bucket filled with water, arrange them carefully and insert them into the container.

 2. Water cutting method: cut the flower branch in water, so that no air connected to the mother plant enters when cutting; you can also immerse the cut flower branch in water and cut a section underwater. The same applies to avoid air entering. Apart from the milk method for flowering branches, other flowering branches are also applicable, but note that the flower head must be exposed above the water surface.

 3. Heat treatment: for flower branches of woody and perennial flowers such as magenta and chrysanthemum, the ends can be burned with fire. The method is to place the ends of woody fragrant flowers on the flame of burning hydrocarbon for 2-3 minutes, then slightly cut the scorched flower branches, put them into alcohol for 1 minute, take them out, rinse with clean water, and then insert them into the vase. After cutting the squid of herbaceous flowers, immerse the ends in hot water at 80 degrees for a few minutes, then take them out and put them into the vase, so as to avoid blocking the stems of the flower branches and prevent branches infected by bacteria. Keep fresh flowers continuously supplied with water and keep them fresh.

 4. Physical treatment of the cut: some woody branches, such as magnolia, lilac, peony, etc., can have the ends inserted into small grains of sand. Steps: first, when cutting the branch, cut the cut at an angle to increase the water-absorbing surface of the flower branch; for some branches with brittle stems, break them directly with the right hand to enlarge the cut, so that the flower branch tubes are not prone to shearing and damage; third, connect the longitudinal surface of the cut into several sections and insert small stones to open the cut; fourth, gently crush about 3 cm of the base of the flower branch to increase the water-absorbing area and extend the flower arrangement. Generally speaking, herbaceous flowers should be cut at an angle, and woody flowers should be folded.

 5. Acid-base treatment: coat the cut with any one of acetic acid, dilute hydrochloric acid, boric acid, salt, etc.

 6. Increase nutrition: sugar, vitamins, growth hormones, medical painkillers, etc. can be added to the water in the flower arrangement container, which can extend the freshness-preserving time of the flowers and can also play a role in extending blooming, but it must be appropriate.
