Compared with large flower arranging exhibitions and competitions, home flower arranging is more free and easy. As long as you have fresh flowers and greenery on hand, plus a sense of calm, you can arrange flowers. But do you know how to keep your flower arrangement blooming more beautifully and for longer?

Most homeowners place a vase or a large amount of fresh flowers in the home, and the flowers have a very short lifespan - a week at most, two days at worst. Especially in summer, the blooming period becomes even shorter. How can you keep the flowers blooming longer? How long can it be?

 1. Selection of materials. The hydration life of a flower is related to the habits of the flower itself. Different flowers have different tolerances for their blooms. Some flowers only last 2 to 3 days, while nandina can stay fresh for 1 month. When selecting flower branches, choose those with seventy or eighty percent open flowers, and at the same time include branches with flower buds. Branches whose flowers have already opened fully or are near the end of blooming are not suitable. After cutting the flower branches, avoid prolonged wind and sunlight exposure to prevent the leaves from wilting, but place them into a bucket filled with water, arrange them carefully, and then insert them into the container.

 2. Water cutting method: Cut the flower branch underwater, so that when cutting, the air connected to the mother plant is not cut off; you can also immerse the cut flower branch in water and cut a section underwater, likewise, to prevent air from entering. Apart from the milk method for flowering branches, this also applies to other flowering branches, but care should be taken that the flower head must be exposed above the water surface.

 3. Heat treatment: For the flower branches of woody and perennial flowers such as magenta and chrysanthemum, the ends can be burned with fire. The method is to place the ends of the woody fragrant flowers over a burning flame for 2-3 minutes, then cut the charred flower branches slightly, put them into alcohol for 1 minute, take them out, rinse with clean water, and then insert them into a vase. After cutting the stems of herbaceous flowers, immerse the ends in hot water at 80 degrees for a few minutes, then take them out and place them in a vase, so as not to block the stems of the flower branches and to prevent infection by bacteria on the branches. Keep fresh flowers continuously supplied with water and keep them fresh.

 4. Physical treatment of the cut: Some woody branches, such as magnolia, lilac, peony, etc., can have small grains of sand inserted at the ends. Steps: First, when cutting the branch, cut the cut surface at an angle to increase the water-absorbing surface of the flower branch; for some branches with brittle stems, break them directly by hand to enlarge the cut, so that the flower branch tubes are not prone to shearing and damage; third, connect the longitudinal surface of the cut into several sections and embed small stones to open the cut; fourth, gently crush the base of the flower branch by about 3 cm to increase the water-absorbing area and prolong the flower arrangement. Generally speaking, herbaceous flowers should be cut at an angle, and woody flowers should be folded.

 5. Acid-base treatment: Apply any one of acetic acid, dilute hydrochloric acid, boric acid, salt, etc. to the cut.

 6. Increase nutrition: Sugar, vitamins, growth hormones, medical painkillers, etc. can be added to the water in the flower arranging container, which can extend the freshness time of the flowers and also play a role in prolonging blooming, but it must be done appropriately.
