Summer Cultivation - Enter the countryside, understand this land down-to-earth

In the summer of 2019, Taiwan Rural Front will hold the "Summer Cultivation - Rural Grassroots Investigation Camp: The Distance Between Us and Farming." Summer Cultivation brings young people to the countryside. We believe that only by getting close to the land and rural areas, and generating more dialogue and contact through action, can we truly understand the beauty and sorrow of Taiwan's countryside.

"Taiwan Rural Front" was assembled in resistance to the Rural Regeneration Act. Through one action after another to protect villages and guard farmers, the Rural Front connected every citizen concerned about agricultural issues, becoming an organic organization that advances alongside farmers. Among them, of course, are many passionate students and young people. Although young people realize their concern for agricultural issues through action, under the separation and rupture between urban and rural areas, the younger generation is truly unfamiliar with the actual rural field. Summer Cultivation arose from this. We hope that through Summer Cultivation's call and empowerment, we can enrich the strength and future of Taiwan's rural areas.

"Camp Information and Introduction"

The Summer Cultivation camp is divided into three stages, and the first stage will be held in Meinong. The courses focus on field investigation, local revitalization, and various agricultural issues. We hope that through the first stage, participants can build a solid foundation and gain a basic understanding of rural areas. Detailed information can be found on the official website.

The second stage will take participants to various places in Taiwan to conduct field investigations. This year's partner organizations include: Yunlin Chenglong Community, Yuanli Xianhaifeng, Lukang Central Taiwan Agricultural Base, Seafood Life in Nanfang'ao, Zheqing Culture Studio, and other teams. Led by local teams, we will use field investigation to dialogue with rural areas.

The third stage will take the form of a results presentation, expected to be held during the Bow Down Life Festival. The results of the field investigations will be crystallized into writing and shared with local areas, relatives, and friends, presenting the abundant fruits after Summer Cultivation's sweat.
