Identification of Flower Pests and Diseases and Self-Made Pesticide Control Methods

There are many kinds of pests that occur on flowers. Making some pesticides yourself to control flower pests can achieve good results, and the method is simple and money-saving.

1. Tobacco: It has stomach poison, contact and fumigant effects. Because of its strong penetration, it can paralyze and poison pests to death. The method is to use tobacco leaf stems or leftover cigarette butts (remove the filter), add 50-60 times water, soak for a day and a night, filter and spray. It can control aphids, red spiders and newly hatched scale insects.

2. Fengyoujing (essential balm): Dilute Fengyoujing 600-800 times with water to control aphids, scale insects, and moth and butterfly larvae; Fengyoujing diluted 400-600 times can control red spiders.

3. Mosquito coils: Hang a lit mosquito coil on the flower plant, seal it with plastic film and fumigate for about 10 minutes, which can kill whitefly pests.

4. Soapy water: Take ordinary soapy water or leftover soap scraps or thin slices, dissolve them in hot water, add water at a ratio of 1:60, spray after cooling, and it can control aphids and red spiders. If cigarette butts (remove the ash) are soaked in the soapy water, besides improving the control effect on aphids and red spiders, it can also control thrips, whiteflies and leafhoppers. However, soapy water cannot be used for a long time, otherwise it will cause alkalization of the pot soil.

5. Washing powder: It has a relatively strong contact effect on pests. The washing powder solution can dissolve the waxy layer on the pest's body surface and penetrate into the pest's body, blocking the pest's body surface pores and causing it to die of suffocation. The method is: 200-300 times solution can control leafhoppers. 600-800 times can control red spiders, aphids and scale insects. Neutral washing powder should be selected for use.

6. Garlic liquid: Take 0.5 kg of garlic, mash it into fine garlic paste, add 12 kg of water, stir into a slurry, soak, filter and spray on the ground or the surface of the pot soil, and it can control ants or earthworms.

7. Scallion liquid: Take 1 kg of scallion leaves, dry them in the sun and grind them into powder, add 7.5 kg of water, soak, filter and spray, and it can control aphids and snails.

8. Onion liquid: Take 20 g of onion bulbs, mash them into a fine paste, add 1000 ml of water, soak for 24 hours, then filter and spray, and it can control red spiders and aphids.

9. Sichuan pepper water: Take 100 g of Sichuan pepper, add 3 kg of water and boil, spray after cooling, and it can control scale insects.
