Mist Irrigation Technology Enters the Flower Industry

In today's world of steadily improving material life, people's pursuit of a rich spiritual life is also rising, which has indirectly contributed to the rapid development of China's flower industry. With the continuous advancement of agricultural irrigation technology, mist irrigation technology has been widely applied in flower cultivation. Mist irrigation technology has achieved remarkable results in promoting flower production and shows obvious water-saving effects, making it one of the most ideal water-saving irrigation technologies in flower cultivation.

Mist irrigation is a micro-irrigation water-saving technology developed in recent years after sprinkler irrigation and drip irrigation. Mist irrigation uses low water supply pressure and is mostly local irrigation, making it more energy-efficient than sprinkler irrigation. At the same time, mist irrigation produces small droplets, with water emerging like a "drizzle" that "moistens things silently," so it does not cause surface compaction of the soil at the flower roots, nor does it produce the soil runoff often seen with sprinkler irrigation; therefore, mist irrigation saves more water than sprinkler irrigation. Compared with drip irrigation, mist irrigation systems are more resistant to clogging, use greater water supply pressure than drip irrigation, and deliver water faster. Overall, mist irrigation systems have simple equipment, low initial investment, low maintenance and operating costs, and strong clogging resistance. At the same time, they can increase the humidity between plants, regulate the temperature between plants, and improve the field microclimate, which is of great significance for promoting flower production and the development of China's flower industry.

Although mist irrigation has many advantages, is simple to operate, and is easy to manage with mechanized automation, attention is still needed during use. First is the choice of water source and water quality. Although mist irrigation has lower requirements for water source quality than drip irrigation, because the droplets in mist irrigation are small, excessive impurities in the water can easily cause clogging, so an irrigation water source with good water quality should be chosen, and the irrigation water should also be filtered before use. Second, because mist irrigation pressurizes water into a mist state to irrigate flowers, the air humidity between plants is difficult to control, and the flower garden needs to be ventilated frequently to prevent excessive air humidity from causing flower diseases. At the same time, different irrigation plans should be made according to the different growth conditions of different flowers, and the irrigation time, irrigation frequency, and irrigation volume should all be reasonably arranged to ensure the normal growth of flowers and promote flower production.
