When people mention Zengcheng in Guangzhou, many immediately think of its most famous lychees. In fact, Zengcheng is very rich in agricultural products, with fine mountains and waters, and is even known as the backyard garden of Guangzhou, making it a holiday resort for Guangzhou residents. In recent years it has been actively developing tourism, and Guangzhou's second international airport has been confirmed to be located in Zengcheng, opening in a few years' time. The district has also added many high-quality, fun, and well-managed attractions and homestays, ready to welcome visitors from all directions.

The King of Lychees - Zengcheng Gua Green
It is well known that Zengcheng Gua Green is the foremost of the four great fruits of Lingnan, the king of kings among lychees, but do you know what Gua Green is? What makes it different? Gua Green is relatively round in shape, with a skin that is four parts green and six parts red, and each fruit has a green line encircling it, hence the name Gua Green. The flesh is crystal clear and white, crisp and crunchy, with a taste that is sweeter and more refreshing than other lychee varieties.

At present, in the Gua Green Garden on Licheng Street in Zengcheng, one mother tree is still preserved, with a tree age of over four hundred years, protected by a surrounding electrified water pool! The several generations of trees propagated from it have been distributed for planting in several townships in the city. Before 2003, Zengcheng would auction the top 10 Gua Green fruits produced by the mother tree each year, and in 2002 it set a Guinness World Record with one fruit selling for 550,000! From 2003 onward, the practice changed to awarding the top-grade Gua Green each year to national heroes or the top ten good people, and the auctions were stopped. Gua Green bears fruit from June to July each year, with only this one crop, and the yield is extremely small, so it is exceedingly rare and precious. For ordinary people to taste Gua Green, besides being prepared to spend money, they also have to test their luck.
