Flower pruning techniques and preparation methods before sowing seeds
1. Remove pest-damaged branches, crossing branches and overlapping branches, so that the interior of the plant receives more light and air circulation improves, which is good for healthy plant growth.
2. The flowering parts of many woody flowers are new branches one or two years old, and generally old branches three or four years old must be pruned away.
3. Some plants that bloom at the tips of branches should be cut back after flowering, to encourage them to keep growing flowering branches and bloom again. Such flowers include Chinese rose, jasmine, crape myrtle, geranium and so on.
4. After seedlings are cut back, they can form 3 to 4 branches, and after each branch is cut back again, a round spherical crown of 9 to 12 branches can be formed.
5. The cut of the pruning should be 1 to 1.5 cm above the bud, and the direction of the bud should be chosen well, so as to direct the direction and position of the new branches. The cut for thinning branches should be at the branching point, and the cut should be smooth, without tearing the bark.
6. Pay attention to small trims at ordinary times, and in November to December carry out a full inspection and prune over a wide range. (Source: Henan Rural News)
