Edible Mushroom Preservation Methods and the Use of Vinegar as a Health Tonic for Flowers

Vinegar Is a Health Tonic for Flowers

In flower cultivation, edible vinegar plays a role that should not be underestimated. Spraying a dilute edible vinegar solution in the right amount can make flowers grow vigorously, with more blooms and brighter colors; it is especially effective at bringing struggling flowers back from the brink.

Treating Chlorosis (Yellowing of Leaves)

Many flowers, such as camellias, azaleas and foliage plants, tend to develop yellow leaves due to a lack of iron, a potting soil pH that is too high, improper care and other reasons. In this case, mix 10 grams of edible vinegar with 3 kg of clean water and spray it on the plant leaves before 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m. Do this once every 10 days; after 4 to 5 consecutive sprays, the leaves will turn from yellow to green.

Promoting Plant Growth

Spray a 300-fold dilution of edible vinegar over the whole camellia plant before it forms buds, once every 15 days. This can enlarge camellia leaves by 0.2 to 0.4 cm, increase the number of flowers by 8% and increase branching by 20%. Watering flowers and trees with a 150- to 2000-fold edible vinegar solution can overcome physiological diseases caused by alkaline potting soil pH.

Enhancing Disease Resistance

For diseases such as rose powdery mildew, azalea black spot, and sooty mold on roses and peonies, once they are discovered, spraying a 150-fold edible vinegar solution 3 times can bring them under effective control. Spraying edible vinegar also has a certain therapeutic effect on flower downy mildew, leaf spot and the like.

However, when spraying edible vinegar on flowers, you should pay attention to the following points:

① You must use good-quality edible vinegar; never use chemically industrial vinegar or vinegar that has spoiled and deteriorated;

② The concentration must be strictly controlled and must not be increased at will;

③ Spraying should generally be done in the morning and evening; be sure not to spray under the scorching sun.
