Soilless Cultivation Techniques for Flowers

With the improvement of living standards, on the one hand, the demand for growing flowers at home is growing higher and higher; on the other hand, people increasingly feel that applying organic fertilizer to home-grown flowers is unhygienic, and tend to use chemical fertilizer as a top dressing. Accordingly, commercial flower fertilizers are selling well on the market, with a wide variety of flower fertilizer products. In particular, compound flower fertilizers have complete nutrition, longer fertilizer efficiency, are convenient to use, and are clean and hygienic, making them a relatively ideal flower fertilizer. As time goes on, soilless cultivation will gradually enter the ranks of home flower growing.

Soilless cultivation means that the substrate used for cultivation is changed from soil to a nutrient solution. It is further divided into two types: water culture and solid substrate culture. Injecting the nutrient solution into water to grow plants is called water culture; injecting the nutrient solution into a solid substrate is called solid substrate culture.

The substrate used in soilless cultivation is relatively loose and breathable, and also has a certain water-retention capacity. The water, fertilizer, and air conditions of the flower roots are suitable, and growth is good. Fleshy-rooted flowers are not prone to root rot or death, and it is clean and hygienic. Soilless cultivation uses inorganic fertilizers, which are odorless and tasteless, resolving the contradiction between floral fragrance and fertilizer odor, and mosquitoes and flies will not breed. It does not use soil, avoiding the pests and diseases carried in the soil, and management is simple. According to the needs of flower growth, the pH and nutrient composition of the nutrient solution are adjusted to maintain optimal growth.
