Edible Mushroom Cultivation Techniques and Seven Methods for Homemade Soil Pesticides for Flower Pests
Long-term use of chemical pesticides to control flower pests easily pollutes the environment. Making soil pesticides yourself with locally available materials to control flower pests also works well, and is pollution-free with no pesticide damage. Here are several soil pesticides that can control flower pests and how to use them.
1. Garlic juice. Take 0.5 kg of purple-skinned garlic, add a little water and soak briefly, crush and extract the juice, dilute with water 10 times, and spray immediately. It can control aphids, red spiders, and scale insect nymphs; pouring garlic juice into the pot soil can control nematodes and earthworms.
2. Tobacco leaf water. Take 50 g of tobacco leaves or 100 g of tobacco stems and leftover cigarette butts, add 1.5 kg of water, boil for half an hour, or soak for a day and a night, rub repeatedly by hand, filter through gauze, and add 0.1%-0.2% neutral washing powder before spraying. It can control aphids, red spiders, leafhoppers, thrips, stink bugs, leaf roller worms, and various other leaf-eating pests.
3. Chili pepper. Take 50 g of dried red chili peppers, add about 1 kg of clean water, boil for 10-20 minutes, filter and spray the clear liquid. It can control aphids, red spiders, whiteflies, and others.
4. Sichuan pepper. Take 50 g of Sichuan pepper (or black pepper), add about 1 kg of water, boil for 30-40 minutes, filter and spray on the plants. It can kill aphids.
5. Pulsatilla root decoction. Take 500 g of Pulsatilla bulbs, add 5 kg of water, boil for half an hour, filter and spray on flowers. It can kill aphids.
6. Peach leaf decoction. Take 0.5 kg of peach leaves, add about 3 kg of water, boil for 30 minutes, filter and spray. It can control aphids, inchworms, and soft-bodied pests; after chopping the peach leaves, drying them in the sun, and grinding them into powder, applying the powder to the soil can control underground pests such as mole crickets and grubs.
7. Washing powder solution. Choose 1 g of neutral washing powder, mix with about 150 g of water, and spray on the affected flowers. It can kill aphids, red spiders, whiteflies, scale insects, and others. But after killing the pests, promptly rinse the leaves with clean water 2-3 times to clear the stomata.
