Learn about edible mushroom cultivation techniques, four tricks to promote flower rooting
For the cutting propagation of Aglaia duperreana (mock lime), Lagerstroemia indica (crape myrtle), Chimonanthus praecox (wintersweet), Osmanthus fragrans (sweet osmanthus), and others, in order to promote rooting of the cuttings, besides using auxin treatments such as naphthaleneacetic acid, the following methods can also be used:
1. Treating cuttings with potassium permanganate: Immerse the base of the cutting 2 cm into a 0.1%-0.5% potassium permanganate solution, soak for 12-24 hours, then remove and insert immediately.
2. Treating cuttings with white sugar solution: The concentration of the white sugar solution used is 2%-5% for herbaceous flowers and 5%-10% for woody flowers. Immerse the base of the cutting 2 cm into the white sugar solution at the above concentration for 24 hours, then remove it, rinse off the sugar solution adhering to the outside of the cutting with clean water, and then insert it.
3. Treating cuttings with medical vitamin B12: Dilute the vitamin B12 injection with an equal amount of cooled boiled water, immerse the base of the cutting in it, remove after 5 minutes, let it dry for a little while, and insert it after the medicinal solution has been absorbed.
4. Performing girdling: During the flower's growth period, carry out ring barking on the base of the branch so that nutrients accumulate in large amounts at the girdled site, and by the dormant period cut off along the girdled site for insertion, which can promote rooting.
