COA's Annual Flagship Event "Taiwan New Farmer Food Movement - 24H Fresh Buy" Kicks Off

The one-month "Taiwan New Farmer Food Movement - 24H Fresh Buy" online shopping event, mentored by the Council of Agriculture (COA) each year, will run this year from May 14 to June 14. Simply purchase designated products on the 10 partner e-commerce platforms and upload a photo of your purchased products to the designated post on the "Taiwan New Farmer Food Movement" Facebook fan page (https://m.facebook.com/farmersbuy) for a chance to win great prizes such as cookware and small home appliances. The public is welcome to shop online for Taiwan's premium agricultural products.

In recent years, the e-commerce boom has driven online sales of agricultural products. There are now more than 100 agricultural e-commerce businesses in Taiwan, China, with an output value of approximately NT$18.5 billion in 2018 (ROC year 107), and this figure continues to grow. Since 2017 (ROC year 106), the COA has guided farmers into e-commerce sales channels by running e-farmer training programs, online shopping events and smallholder brand mentoring, linking premium e-commerce platforms with outstanding local smallholders and consumers through online shopping models. This embraces the e-commerce era and creates a win-win-win situation for consumers, farmers and e-commerce operators, while helping farmers refine their production and increase their income.

The COA emphasized that the "Taiwan New Farmer Food Movement - 24H Fresh Buy" event brings together 10 major e-commerce platform operators. These 10 e-commerce businesses work with nearly 4,000 farmers across Taiwan, China, and during the one-month event, more than 7,000 items of premium domestic agricultural products will be available for consumers to purchase. The e-commerce operators will also offer various promotional deals. Everyone is welcome to seize the opportunity to buy premium domestic agricultural products online and have a chance to win cookware and small home appliances.
