Location| Legislative Yuan, Chung Hsing Building, Conference Room 101

Explanation|
The Food and Drug Administration, in response to an application by Hong Kong-based Monsanto Far East Ltd., on April 23 gave advance notice of adding glyphosate residue tolerance levels for oats, barley, durum wheat, triticale, rye, sorghum, millet, rapeseed, quinoa, and buckwheat, changing the standard from the original "not detectable" to a passing level of no more than 10 ppm.
We believe this is an unnecessary opening, and for the sake of consumers at large, especially children's health, we call on all sectors to take action and demand that the FDA pull back from the brink.
[Our Three Major Demands]
1. We call on the FDA to withdraw this advance notice of amendment adding glyphosate residue standards
2. Disclose the data from the advisory council's assessment of the added glyphosate pesticide residue tolerance standards
3. The government should not open the door wide for imported coarse grains containing glyphosate residues
