Chiayi County Hosts Alishan Estate Coffee Elite Exchange Event

The "2019 Alishan Estate Coffee Elite Exchange Competition and Green Coffee Bean Matchmaking Event," co-organized by the Alishan National Scenic Area Administration of the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the Chiayi County Government, the Alishan Township Office, and the Chiayi County Coffee Industry Development Association, held its green coffee bean matchmaking session at 10 a.m. on April 23. A total of 30 businesses signed up to take part in the event, along with about 60 buyers, who tasted coffees all the way from the preliminary evaluation entries to the Grand Prize winners. They were full of praise for the quality of Alishan coffee, unanimously agreeing that its flavor and quality were in no way inferior to coffee beans from abroad. Since the evaluation event began, 385 kg of green coffee beans have been successfully matched, totaling 834,500 yuan.

At the Alishan Estate Coffee Elite Exchange Competition and Green Coffee Bean Matchmaking Event, the Grand Prize coffee beans were auctioned off, with the washed group fetching 90,000 yuan/kg, the honey-process group fetching 26,000 yuan/kg, and the natural-process group fetching 75,000 yuan/kg, giving our Chiayi County specialty coffee beans tremendous recognition. After the event, an awards ceremony for the results of this Elite Exchange Competition was held, allowing buyers and winners to share in this honor together, with the hope that this event can be expanded in the future so that more consumers can taste Alishan coffee.
