The "2019 Hsinchu Maker Carnival" will stir up excitement once again on April 27-28 at the TSMC Building of National Tsing Hua University. A promotional press conference was held on the 15th, where the "desktop smart vacuum forming machine FORMART," which can easily replicate makers' works for them, stood out as a particular draw. The Hsinchu City Labor Affairs Department said that in addition to maker workshops, fun interactive competitions and interactive art exhibitions, the event at the end of the month will also invite senior makers who have long collaborated with local makers to take part in forums, discussing Taiwan's maker movement from the perspectives of education and innovation. Mayor Lin Chih-chien invited members of the public to take part and feel the creative passion of the makers.

Lai Hsin-chi, founder of the organizer Enjoy Printing Academy, said that this year's Hsinchu Maker Carnival features hands-on workshops, lectures and competitions, with themes including laser-cutting creation, 3D printing, handicrafts and curio box workshops. Through the competition format, makers of all ages can experience robot hands-on practice and team-based collaborative creation, and cultivate logical thinking skills in the process. There are as many as 20 interactive artworks and maker booths, letting participants experience the process of bringing ideas to life and enjoy the joy of making things by hand.

The Hsinchu City Labor Affairs Department said that this year it is also actively linking with central government resources to successively hold maker community cultivation activities and a series of youth design courses. Through the guidance of different activities and courses, it aims to cultivate cross-disciplinary talent and enhance professional capabilities. Members of the public can browse event information on the official website, or call the 1999 citizen service hotline or contact the Labor Affairs Department's Youth Affairs and Labor Welfare Section.
