Pingtung Cross-Ethnic Small Farmer Cooperation 185 Farmers Market Promotes Friendly Produce and Flower Crown Headpieces
A group of small farmers in the Pingtung area, starting from October 2016, spontaneously launched the "185 Farmers Market" beside the Mountain Road, vigorously promoting locally organic, eco-friendly farm produce, as well as various handmade cultural and creative goods from local indigenous people. Although at the beginning there were few stalls and visitor numbers were unstable, and it even got so bad that only two stalls remained, after two and a half years of operation, the small farmers have finally persevered and made it through. At the "185 Farmers Market" the day before yesterday (April 13), there were 31 stalls in total, and visitor numbers exceeded 1,300, setting the market's best single-day record to date.
Even under the blazing sun, the "185 Farmers Market" only gets livelier the hotter it is. The on-site lawn concert rocked from 2:30 to 6:30, with every stall drawing plenty of people and strong sales. Among them, the organic vegetable stall from Ren'ai Elementary School sold out by 4:30, greatly boosting the confidence of all the small farmers.
