Delicious and fun Lucaos Watermelon Festival debuts in Chiayi County on March 30

At a press conference held on the morning of March 26 at the Chiayi Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Plaza, Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang, Lucaos Township Chief Yang Hsiu-yu, Councilor Chan Wan-chen, Lucaos Township Farmers' Association Director-General Chen Chien-ping and other distinguished guests jointly announced that this year's watermelon festival will grandly debut in front of the Lucaos Township Office on March 30. At the same time, so that friends who love watermelons can all enjoy a good feast, from March 26 to April 5 there will be a dedicated watermelon sales area in the plaza in front of the Township Office.

The opening was kicked off by a watermelon dance performance by kindergarten children. At the press conference, freshly harvested watermelons and a variety of agricultural products from farmers were also offered, drawing many people to snap them up. Magistrate Weng Chang-liang, Yang Hsiu-yu and other distinguished guests also cut open delicious watermelons on site and invited the public to taste them. Magistrate Weng Chang-liang said that on the day of the watermelon festival on March 30, there will be rich and lively activities such as watermelon seedling grafting DIY, fun board game storytelling by the story lady, local food and agricultural specialty areas, free watermelon slices and watermelon fruit drinks, and a watermelon eating contest.
