"2019 Butterflies Bring Happiness, Shining Linnei" Invites People from All Over the Country to Admire the Purple Butterfly

"2019 Butterflies Bring Happiness, Shining Linnei" held a promotional press conference yesterday (the 20th) at the square in front of the Linnei Township Office in Yunlin County. Deputy County Magistrate Hsieh Shu-ya, Deputy Director of the Cultural Affairs Department Chen Mei-yen, Township Mayor Chang Wei-cheng and others formed a purple butterfly protection team, inviting everyone to come to Yunlin on March 23 and 24, and March 30 and 31, four days spanning two weekend holidays, to admire the beauty of dancing purple butterflies, and at the same time to protect Yunlin's beautiful homeland and ecology.

Deputy County Magistrate Hsieh Shu-ya said that every year around the spring equinox and Qingming Festival (Tomb-Sweeping Day), purple butterfly colonies follow a fixed route, leaving their winter habitat in Maolin, Kaohsiung, and traveling north along the "butterfly road" all the way back to the Miaoli and Zhunan area to reproduce. They are therefore called "Qingming butterflies," and the migration of the purple butterfly is recognized as an ecological wonder of Taiwan, China.

This event area includes the Linnei small farmers' market and wonderful stage performances at the main venue at the Township Office; butterfly and flower viewing and windmill DIY in the Chukou area; and Pingding Chenggong Elementary School has even prepared parent-child challenge activities and more. The public can collect stamps through the main activities in each area, and in addition to exchanging them for a wheat eco-cup, they can also take part in the daily lucky draw. It is hoped that through holding the purple butterfly season, more people can understand the characteristics of the purple butterfly, and that the public's attention to ecological conservation will be awakened, so that the purple butterflies can keep dancing forever. On March 23 and 24, and March 30 and 31, four days spanning two weekends, people from all over the country are welcome to come to Linnei Township to experience the good mountains, good water, and good air, admire the purple butterflies, and become purple butterfly protectors.
