Subsidy for pesticide control of the "lychee stink bug" raised to 2,000 yuan per hectare
As temperatures warm up, damage from the lychee stink bug is emerging in Yunlin County. To encourage farmers to actively take part in coordinated control, the subsidy for pesticide control of the "lychee stink bug" has been raised from the original 500 yuan to 2,000 yuan per hectare. Farmers who actually grow longan and lychee fruit trees in their cultivated fields may apply to the township, town, city or district office in their locality for the pesticide control subsidy, so as to improve and promote control effectiveness. The subsidy period runs from now until June 30, 2019 (ROC year 108). The Yunlin County Animal and Plant Disease Control Center urges eligible farmers to apply to their local office as soon as possible and begin control measures.
The Yunlin County Disease Control Center stated that when disturbed, the lychee stink bug sprays an irritating secretion that can cause chemical burns on the human body. The center urges farmers to make sure they take proper personal protective measures when working in the fields, and to seek medical attention as soon as possible if they accidentally come into contact with the lychee stink bug's secretion.
The Yunlin County Disease Control Center once again calls on all farmers to mobilize together for lychee stink bug control, as only then can the outbreak be effectively brought under control. When using chemical control, the safe harvest interval must be observed to safeguard the safety and quality of Yunlin County's agricultural products. If farmers have any questions about crop pest and disease control, they are welcome to contact the Yunlin County Animal and Plant Disease Control Center at (05)5523259 at any time.
