Taoyuan Vegetable Production and Marketing Group Signs Cooperation with Marshall Formosa Group

Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan yesterday (the 12th) afternoon went to the Vegetable Production and Marketing Group Third Group in Bade District to attend the "Taoyuan City Bade Vegetable Production and Marketing Group x Marshall Formosa Group Cooperation Intent Letter Signing Ceremony for Promoting Taoyuan Agricultural Specialties." Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said that the Marshall Islands are located in the South Pacific and are an important supply base for our country's distant-water fishing industry. The Marshall Islands are mainly composed of coral atolls, and the soil is not suitable for growing crops, so most vegetables and fruits must rely on imports. After Taoyuan established a sister-city relationship with Aur Atoll in the Marshall Islands last year (2018), yesterday it exported its first batch of about 9 metric tons of fresh vegetables and fruits to the Marshall Islands. Through fresh vegetables and fruits, local people can feel Taiwan's friendship, and in the future it will continue to expand vegetable exports to the Marshall Islands, promoting closer and longer-lasting exchanges between the two countries.

Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan mentioned that the first batch of exported agricultural specialties totaled more than 500 items, among which Korean Shandong cabbage, cabbage, carrots, white radishes, bok choy, celery, broccoli, guavas, and mandarins were more numerous, with a total weight of 9 metric tons. He believes it will certainly provide local residents with better dietary choices and improve local quality of life.

Also attending the event were Legislator Chao Cheng-yu, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Administrative Deputy Minister Hsu Szu-chien, City Councilors Li Chia-hsing, Yu Hsin-hsien, Lu Lin Hsiao-feng, Chien Chih-hsiang, Chien Chih-wei, City Government Secretariat Director Yen Tzu-chieh, Agriculture Bureau Director Kuo Cheng-chuan, Department of Information Deputy Director Yao Tun-ming, Economic Development Bureau Deputy Director Huang Sui-peng, Ambassador of the Republic of the Marshall Islands to Taiwan Neijon Edwards, Marshall Formosa Group Chairman Lin Hsueh-ming, Taoyuan Fruit and Vegetable Market Company Chairman Chiu Su-fen, Taoyuan Fruit and Vegetable Market Company General Manager Chang Chih-yuan, Bade District Chief Tsai Chih-yang, and Taoyuan District Chief Chen Chih-jen.
