2019 Madou Pomelo Blossom Season Kicks Off with Fanfare: Mayor Huang Wei-che Witnesses Happiness in the Pomelo Orchard

In March, pomelo flowers bloom, carrying waves of fresh fragrance on the breeze. To advance agricultural development in Tainan City and promote the Madou pomelo industry, the "2019 Madou Pomelo Blossom Season," organized by the Madou District Farmers' Association of Tainan City, officially kicked off yesterday morning (the 10th) at the Madou Hao Liao Pomelo Orchard, with Mayor Huang Wei-che and Minister of the Interior Hsu Kuo-yung personally attending to admire the pomelo blossoms and take in their fragrance.

One of the highlights of the Pomelo Blossom Season was the outdoor notarized wedding in the pomelo orchard. Following the first outdoor notarized wedding held in a pomelo orchard during last year's (107th year of the Republic of China) Pomelo Blossom Season, which received widespread praise, the Madou District Farmers' Association continued the event this year with the "Pomelo Blossom Wedding for Complete Blessings." The wedding began with the newlyweds riding in on an agricultural transport vehicle, and under the joint witness of Mayor Huang Wei-che and Minister Hsu Kuo-yung, they completed their life's major event amid a joyful and warm atmosphere. Distinguished guests including Agriculture Bureau Director Li Chao-tang, Police Bureau Director Huang Tsung-jen, Tainan City Farmers' Association General Secretary Wu Cheng-jen, Southern Branch Chief of the Agriculture and Food Agency Yao Chih-wang, and Madou District Chief Kung Ching-yao also attended to offer their abundant blessings.

Mayor Huang Wei-che stated that he had attended the Pomelo Blossom Season and the Pomelo Festival, but this was the first time an event combined a wedding with local industry and culture, showing great ingenuity. After flowering comes fruiting, just as pomelo blossoms give way to pomelos. Of course, in addition to wishing the newlyweds a successful outcome, he also encouraged them to have more children and enjoy good results.

Madou District Farmers' Association General Secretary Sun Tzu-min stated that the city government and the farmers' association have always done their utmost to guide and assist farmers in promoting the pomelo industry. Every year in March, when pomelo flowers are in full bloom, the Madou Pomelo Blossom Season is held; in August, the Madou Pomelo Season is held, hoping to let consumers taste Madou's high-quality pomelos, promote pomelo-related products, and at the same time attract tourists to experience farm life and develop the local tourism industry.
