How to Grow Jade Plant
Jade Plant, also known as Jade Tree (Crassula portulacea), has an upright and elegant crown, emerald green stems and leaves, and white flowers at the top, making it very refined and unique. If paired with a pot stand and gravel to create a small bonsai, it is even more attractive when decorating a coffee table or desk. Small potted Jade Plants are more suitable for indoor placement and are bonsai with great ornamental value. Below, let's learn how to grow Jade Plant while enjoying pictures of Jade Plant cultivation.

Jade Plant Growing Temperature
The suitable temperature for Jade Plant growth is 20-30°C. Spring and autumn are the suitable growing seasons. In summer when temperatures are high, shade it or place it under tree shade to avoid direct strong sunlight. When the temperature exceeds 38°C, growth slows or it enters a brief dormancy. In winter, it should be moved into a greenhouse or placed in a sunny spot indoors, with room temperature maintained at 7-10°C, and never lower than 5°C. If it drops below 0°C, it will freeze and die. During the growing season, except for shading needed during hot summer weather, it should be placed in a location with ample sunlight.

Jade Plant Growing Humidity
During the growing season, water Jade Plant once every 2-3 days, but do not let the potting soil become too wet, and especially do not let water accumulate. During hot summer weather, watering must be strictly controlled and ventilation strengthened, otherwise leaf drop is likely to occur. In winter, reduce watering, and keep the potting soil slightly dry. After autumn begins, gradually reduce watering. When cultivating outdoors, avoid heavy rain washing over it, otherwise excessive water accumulation at the roots can easily cause root rot and death.

Fertilizing Jade Plant
During the growing season, apply topdressing, generally 2-3 times a month with decomposed diluted cake liquid fertilizer. When changing soil or before planting, apply sufficient base fertilizer. Decomposed organic fertilizers such as chicken manure, pigeon manure, bone meal, human manure and urine, and various cake fertilizers can all be added to the potting soil as base fertilizer. To maintain a full plant shape, fertilizer and water should not be excessive, so as to avoid leggy growth.

Propagating Jade Plant
Jade Plant is commonly propagated by cuttings. During the growing season, cut a plump and sturdy top branch, 8-10 cm long, let it dry slightly, then insert it into a sand bed; it will root about 3 weeks after insertion. Single-leaf cuttings can also be used; after cutting the leaf, wait for it to dry, then insert it into a sand bed; it will root about 4 weeks after insertion, and when the roots are 2-3 cm long, pot it up.

Pruning Jade Plant
Pruning Jade Plant can be done according to individual preference. If you prefer a rounded and full crown, when pruning, cut off leggy branches and branches that are too overlapping and crowded, so that the outer crown of the plant is full and the inner branches are appropriately spaced. If the plant is old, with thick old stems and a crown that is not very rounded, it can be pruned or styled as a stump bonsai, cutting off some branches and leaves according to the shaping needs. Jade Plant is very easy to grow, mainly requiring more sunlight. Do not water it too much.
