Snake plant has several different names, but the same body. Also known as tiger tail sansevieria and jinlan, it is a plant of the Asparagaceae family and the Sansevieria genus. Varieties include golden-edged snake plant and silver-veined snake plant. The underground stem has no branches, the leaves are clustered, the lower part is tubular, the middle and upper parts are flat, the sword-shaped leaves are stiff and upright, the plant height is 50 cm to 70 cm, the leaf width is 3 cm to 5 cm, the leaf margin is entire, the surface is milky white, pale yellow, and dark green alternating, with horizontal banded markings. The golden-edged snake plant has golden-yellow leaf margins, 1 cm to 1.6 cm wide. The silver-veined snake plant has longitudinal silvery-white stripes on the surface. If managed well as a household potted plant, the whole plant's leaves can reach more than 1.2 m high. The flowers emerge singly from the rhizome, in a raceme, pale white and light green, in clusters of 3 to 5 flowers borne on the flowering axis.

The uses of snake plant:

Placing snake plant in the home, besides its ornamental effect, can also absorb harmful substances such as formaldehyde indoors and reduce the harm to family members. This is especially true for newly renovated houses or after newly purchased furniture, where the effect is more obvious. Everyone is advised to place more green plants indoors, and in addition, to alleviate the harm of positive ions to the human body and promote the regulation of negative ions for human health. Based on surveys comparing the amount of negative ions produced by various plants, botanists found that placing snake plant indoors is most suitable, because the amount of negative ions it produces is more than 30 times that of other plants! It is a "master" at producing negative ions, and it can also effectively absorb carbon dioxide at night and remove harmful gases such as toluene from the air. Of course, keeping snake plant at home has many other benefits as well, such as clearing heat and detoxifying. It has pharmaceutical effects for treating colds, bronchitis, bruises, and sores, etc.
