The peels of citrus fruits mostly contain essential oils, which can repel insects and kill bacteria, protecting the fruit inside.
Having said all this, I simply hope everyone will try their best toavoid buying food packaged in non-recyclable materials, and if eating out, bring your own eco-friendly utensils. If there is really no other way, then just go to 7-Eleven and eat a banana and ice cream! Haha!
