[How to grow hydroponic plants] Hydroponic plant methods

Many friends are not particularly familiar with hydroponic methods for plants, and problems always arise during the hydroponic process. So, how should plants be grown hydroponically? Today I will give you a brief introduction, let's take a look together.

Which plants can be grown hydroponically

Currently, plants that can directly produce water roots include carnation, African daisy, tulip, hyacinth, chrysanthemum, calla lily, gloxinia, cyclamen, gladiolus, orchid, lucky bamboo, philodendron, Brazilian wood, and giant taro, among others.

Aquatic plants have well-developed root systems and can grow bubbles in water. Plants whose soil roots can be transformed into water roots through domestication include monstera, milan, clivia, camellia, jasmine, azalea, goldenrain tree, violet, phalaenopsis, fuchsia, rubber fig, Brazilian iron, begonia species, ferns, palm family plants, as well as Christmas cactus, lucky bamboo, Brazilian wood, ivy, and coleus, among others.

Hydroponic plant growing methods

Temperature: The suitable temperature for hydroponic plant growth is above 5°C and below 30°C. Within this temperature range, hydroponic plants can grow normally. Even in winter, hydroponic plants can have abundant flowers and lush leaves, full of vitality.

Light: The light requirements for hydroponic plants are divided into full-light type, semi-shade type, and shade-tolerant type. Different light should be given according to different plant habits. Generally, hydroponic plants need diffused light for growth; as long as there is appropriate brightness, it is fine. Direct sunlight is not necessary, and they can be grown indoors.

Changing water and nutrient solution: Changing water means replacing the water in the bottle that has nutrient solution added. Generally, in spring and autumn, change the water every 5-10 days; in summer, change the water about every 5 days; in winter, change the water every 10-15 days (let tap water sit for half a day, then add concentrated nutrient solution in proportion). For the nutrient solution, you can use a dedicated hydroponic nutrient solution sold on the market and prepare it according to the instructions. Changing the water is to ensure the oxygen supply in the water; the more oxygen in the water, the healthier the plant. If the water in the bottle deteriorates, it will affect the growth of hydroponic plants, and in severe cases, it will cause the death of hydroponic plants.

Precautions for hydroponic pothos

Too much shade is bad: For hydroponic pothos, the placement location must be chosen well. It cannot be placed in a place with too little light for a long time, as that will make the stems lack toughness, not be plump, have longer internodes, and a loose and collapsing plant shape. The leaves will also turn yellow, the white stripes will fade, and the leaves will not grow due to nutrient deficiency, which will cause new leaves to become smaller.

Regularly supplement nutrients: During the growth period, you can prune appropriately to promote the growth of new tender shoots, which also looks more beautiful. At the same time, keep the leaves clean at all times. Occasionally, you can use a small spray bottle to sprinkle water and clean the leaves to maintain their glossiness. During this period, nutrients should also be supplemented regularly. Each dosage should be small rather than large; too much will lead to excess nutrients, which is not conducive to the growth of pothos.

Clean water quality: If root rot is found, please remove it in time, and pour out the water as well. You can consider whether there is a problem with the water quality and choose clear fresh water. If it is not removed in time, it will affect the growth of the entire pot of plants.

That is all for the introduction to hydroponic plant methods. I believe that after reading this, everyone has gained some understanding of hydroponic plant methods. If any friends want to grow hydroponic plants, you can refer to the relevant knowledge points I have introduced for you.
