Where can you find Lianxiang strawberry seedlings? Origin and variety characteristics
Do you know about the Lianxiang strawberry today? This strawberry is a newly released variety from Taiwan, China, and has not yet hit the market. Currently, this strawberry is only available in Taiwan, China. So what characteristics does this strawberry have? Let's learn about it together first!
The biggest characteristic of the Lianxiang strawberry may be its large and beautiful fruit, with a sweetness of over 16 degrees. The Lianxiang strawberry can be cultivated without gibberellin (plant hormone) - the dreamy new strawberry variety "Miaoli No. 1 - Lianxiang" has been officially launched! It was bred over six years by the Miaoli District Agricultural Improvement Station (hereinafter referred to as "Miaoli Improvement Station") under the Council of Agriculture. Compared with the currently main strawberry variety in the country - Toyonoka, it is not only easy to cultivate and high in sweetness, but even performs better in sugar content than Japanese strawberries.
Wu Dairong, assistant researcher at the Biological Control Branch of the Miaoli Improvement Station responsible for breeding, said with visible excitement that after six years of breeding thousands of strawberry plants and tasting nearly 3,000 or more strawberries, a perfect strain was finally discovered, and it is hoped that Taiwan, China's strawberry industry will move toward the next peak.
Using Toyonoka as the female parent and "MLSBL", which is suitable for the local climate but has relatively firm fruit, as the male parent, five cross combinations were first made, and a new line - Lianxiang - was selected from thousands of fruits. When propagated in summer, Lianxiang's propagation rate is 1.4 times higher than that of Toyonoka, and the fruit is large and cone-shaped. Each strawberry weighs about 20 grams on average (Toyonoka about 15 grams), the sugar content is as high as 16 degrees (Toyonoka about 11 degrees), and the sugar-acid ratio is as high as 18.3. It is sweet but not cloying, with a lasting aroma, and even has higher sugar content than the well-known Japanese strawberry variety "Satsuma Otome", giving it great development potential.
Friends who like eating strawberries, you may have a new choice! Its sweetness may be the highest among strawberries currently on the market.
