What medicinal value and therapeutic effects does cactus have
Cactus is a common ornamental plant for us. Although it is rather hard to get close to, its value is very high, and it is truly an amazing master. So, what are the medicinal values of cactus?
I. Medicinal values of cactus
Acute mastitis:
Take an appropriate amount of fresh cactus or cactus ball, remove the thorns and fuzz on the surface, wash clean, and mash. When using, apply the cactus paste to the red and swollen area of the breast, cover with gauze, and fix with adhesive tape. Change the dressing several times a day, keeping it moist as the standard.
Suppurative otitis media:
Equal parts of cactus and dandelion, wash clean, mash and squeeze out the juice, drip into the ear, 2 to 4 drops each time, 2 to 3 times a day. This formula has good effects for patients with suppurative otitis media. Generally about 3 to 5 days of medication are needed, and it has good antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, heat-clearing and detoxifying effects.
Epidemic parotitis:
Mash an appropriate amount of cactus, add a little duck egg white, mix thoroughly and evenly, put into a bottle, seal and set aside. During treatment, spread the medicinal paste onto thick sterilized gauze, and choose the size of the application area according to the scope of swelling in the patient's parotid area. Apply to one side for unilateral onset, and to both sides for bilateral onset, changing the dressing once a day. For those who use the medicine promptly, generally 2 applications are enough to cure it.
II. Cultivation methods of cactus
1. In the three seasons of spring, autumn and winter, the sunlight is not strong and the temperature is not high, so the water evaporation from cactus leaves is low, so watering should not be too much. An appropriate amount is enough. In summer, the temperature rises, so watering should be increased a little appropriately, but it should not be too frequent. Appropriately spraying some water on the cactus is enough. Always keep the place where the cactus is placed humid in the air, not dry, and a small amount of water can be sprayed with a spray bottle at any time.
2. Cactus likes to grow in soil that is rich in nutrients and loose and breathable. Usually, specially prepared soil is best: vermiculite: fine sand: decomposed humus = 2:2:1, then stir evenly. The prepared culture soil should be one that barely forms a ball when squeezed in the hand, and falls apart as soon as the hand is released. This kind of soil is more suitable for cactus growth.
3. In terms of watering, no matter the season, water thoroughly when watering. "Do not water if not dry; when watering, water thoroughly." That is, you do not need to water frequently, but once you water, every part of the soil must be soaked through. Do not water only down to the middle part. It will easily rot.
4. Spring, summer and autumn are the growing seasons for cactus. In winter, the plant enters a dormant state and stops growing. At this stage, watering should not be too much; just keep the pot soil moist. In winter, the plant absorbs little water, and excessive watering easily causes root rot. Cactus is relatively fond of light, so take it out to sun more. It should not stay in a hidden place for a long time, but it also should not be exposed to long-term harsh sunlight. Morning sunlight is best.
III. How to eat cactus fruit
1. Break open the peel and take the flesh with honey and warm boiled water. The effect is even better.
2. Eat after freezing in the refrigerator; the texture is smooth and tender.
3. It can be used to make sugar and brew wine.
Cactus fruit has many thorns of various sizes, so you must be very careful when peeling. The method for peeling cactus fruit:
1. Tools: a pair of gloves, a long clip, a small knife, a large sheet of paper, a large bowl.
2. Peeling (stripping the peel): put on gloves, spread paper where the peel will be removed, place the fruit on it, use the clip to hold the cactus fruit body, cut off both ends, rinse the tip of the clip, then use the clip to pinch both ends, use a small knife to cut a slit along the fruit, then along the slit use the small knife to pull open both sides, and the peel comes off. Then put the peeled fruit into the large bowl. If you are worried, just rinse it with water again when eating.
The above gives a detailed introduction to the medicinal value of cactus. Our understanding of cactus is further enhanced, and we praise the spirit of such a plant even more. At the same time, it also teaches us many principles.
