[Cyclamen flower language]A distinguished guest who came to the mortal world - cyclamen flower

Cyclamen is one of the mainstream potted ornamental plants. Its flower shape is elegant and its colors are vivid, and its symbolic meaning is also very auspicious, so it has very high ornamental value.

I. The flower language of cyclamen

Welcoming distinguished guests, hospitality: Based on its name, cyclamen carries the meaning of an immortal guest fluttering in. In addition, cyclamen in full bloom is very popular among people and is a high-end potted flower in winter for decorating living rooms, desks, and public places such as shops and restaurants.

Introversion: People born under the blessing of this flower are shy and timid. Because they do not talk much, sometimes even very kind-hearted people can be misunderstood. If they are baffled by misunderstandings from someone they love, the loss can be great. Sometimes it may be worth overcoming your introversion and showing a cheerful, witty side.

Beauty, jealousy, proving with a delicate and silent posture the elegance of being loved: Catholicism regards cyclamen as the heart's blood of the Virgin Mary falling to the ground (or her heart bleeding in the mortal world), and Japanese people regard this flower as the sacred flower of love.

Gracefulness: Cyclamen leaves have white markings, and the undersides of the leaves are purplish red. The flowers come in red, white, purple, orange, and red edges with white centers, with deep flower markings and beautiful buds, and some flowers are fragrant. Placing a pot of cyclamen in the living room or on a desk instantly makes the whole room shine and adds endless pleasure. Many people have also given it the symbolic meaning of gracefulness.

II. The legend of cyclamen

Legend says that Chang'e was in the moon palace, but her heart was in the mortal world. She often sat under the osmanthus tree, gazing at the mortal world from afar and missing her loved ones. One day, she could no longer resist the pain of longing, so she secretly brought the jade rabbit, who was her lifelong companion, to the mortal world to visit her husband Hou Yi. After being apart for so long, they were reunited, and the two shared deep affection. Chang'e and her husband Hou Yi became immersed in pouring out their hearts to each other. The spiritual jade rabbit could not bear to disturb this rare reunion of the ill-fated couple, so it went by itself to the garden to play with the old gardener. The jade rabbit and the old gardener were kindred spirits. Although they had not been together long, they formed a deep friendship. Helplessly, as dawn gradually brightened, they had to part. Chang'e and Hou Yi were tearful, and the jade rabbit and the old gardener also found it hard to part. With reddened tearful eyes, the jade rabbit took a seed from its ear and gave it to the old gardener as a keepsake. After Chang'e and the jade rabbit left, Hou Yi and the old gardener planted this seed in the garden, watering it every day and fertilizing it every night. Day after day, they poured all their longing for Chang'e and the jade rabbit into this seed. Hard work paid off, and finally the seed sprouted, grew into a seedling, and bloomed into flowers one after another that looked like little rabbit heads. The flowers raised their heads toward the moon, truly arousing pity and love. Therefore, cyclamen is also called rabbit flower.

III. Notes on growing cyclamen

1. Light: Cyclamen likes sunlight, so it should be placed in a sunny place for care. Sufficient light is very beneficial to its growth, but it is afraid of direct strong light in summer.

2. Fertilization: Cyclamen is a fertilizer-loving plant. In spring and autumn each year, apply 2‰ potassium dihydrogen phosphate once each. Do not apply nitrogen fertilizer during the flowering period, otherwise it will cause excessive growth of branches and leaves and shorten the life of the flowers.

3. Temperature: Cyclamen is not tolerant of high temperatures. Too high a temperature will cause it to enter dormancy. Above 30°C, the plant will stop growing and enter dormancy, and above 35°C it is prone to rot and death. In winter during the flowering period, the temperature must not be lower than 10°C. If the temperature is too low, the flower colors will be dull and the flowers will easily fall. The suitable growth temperature is 15-20°C.

4. Watering: Cyclamen likes moisture and fears waterlogging. It should not be watered too much, as excessive watering will cause root rot and death. Keeping the soil moist every day is enough.

5. Pests and diseases: Cyclamen has more diseases than insect pests. The main diseases are gray mold and soft rot, mostly caused by bacterial infection. The diseased parts show soft rot. Apply thiophanate-methyl or chlorothalonil for prevention.

Growing cyclamen at home can not only beautify the room, purify the air, and adjust the tense pace of life, but also express welcome to visiting guests, so it is very suitable for growing in places such as living rooms and dining rooms.
