Hydroponic flowers are elegant and distinctive, clean and hygienic, and easy to care for, making them suitable for people who are not gardening professionals, especially flower lovers who enjoy flowers more than growing them, busy gardening enthusiasts, and flower lovers who are often away from home. Next, we will introduce the water-culture methods for the peace lily.

Hydroponic method for the peace lily

Growing a peace lily hydroponically lets you admire its tender white roots and also see the lovely little fish swimming among the roots, which is truly delightful. The key points of hydroponic peace lily: oxygen, light, nutrients.

1. Change the water every 15-20 days in hot weather, and about once a month in cold weather; the water level should reach three-quarters of the way up the roots.

2. Normally scattered light is sufficient; avoid light in summer, and avoid direct strong light.

3. Use nutrient solution for foliage plants.

4. Spray water on the leaves appropriately to increase air humidity. If using tap water, draw it in advance and let it sit in the air for more than a day to fully dissolve oxygen and release chlorine. When changing the water, wash away the mucus on the roots and cut off rotten roots and scorched leaves.

For hydroponic flowers, use a special nutrient solution formulated for foliage plants; during the vigorous spring and autumn growing seasons, add the nutrient solution more often.

Precautions for hydroponic peace lily:

Because the peace lily has both beautiful leaves and flowers, is light and graceful, grows vigorously, and is also shade-tolerant, it is highly favored by people and often used for indoor greening and decorative displays. The peace lily is an "expert" at suppressing waste gases exhaled by the human body, such as ammonia and acetone. It can also filter benzene, trichloroethylene, and formaldehyde from the air. Its high evaporation rate can prevent the nasal mucosa from drying out and greatly reduce the likelihood of illness. The peace lily likes warmth and humidity, so during the growing period it should be given sufficient water and the potting soil should be kept moist often. In summer and dry seasons, use a fine-nozzle sprayer to spray water on the leaves and the ground frequently to increase air humidity.

After placing it properly, the next matter is care. The hydroponic peace lily can be placed indoors in a spot with bright scattered light for cultivation. The growing temperature for the peace lily is 20-28°C; it is not tolerant of low temperatures, and the indoor temperature at night should be kept at 14-15°C. It fears high temperatures, so it must not be exposed to direct sunlight; pay attention to shading in summer, and you can spray water on the leaves of the peace lily to keep it moist. In summer, change the water about once every 7 days, and in winter about once every 10 to 15 days; when changing the water, just pour in a few drops of special nutrient solution for hydroponic flowers.

Pay attention to promptly observing the root growth of the hydroponic peace lily and check whether there are any rotten areas on the roots. If there are, remove them promptly and change the water in time to ensure the healthy growth of the peace lily.

If the leaves of the hydroponic peace lily turn yellow, and if the yellowing is only slight, it can continue to be grown in water; if the yellowing is severe, it should be transplanted into soil for growing.
