How does pothos (Epipremnum aureum) get through the winter? In winter it is best kept indoors
Plants also change according to the characteristics of the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter. Especially when winter comes, people will find that many green plants begin to drop their leaves and become bare. Some people grow pothos at home, and in winter they worry that it will lose all its leaves, so they want to help it get through the winter. So, how does pothos get through the winter?
When pothos is below 5 degrees, it will stop circulating due to the low temperature and go into shock, with dry leaves or death. When the temperature is below 10 degrees, you need to immediately make a small greenhouse for it: use bamboo splits or No. 8 iron wire to make a frame the same size as this pot of pothos, cover it with transparent plastic film (leave a small "window" on top that can be opened and closed, so you can often open the "window" to ventilate and let out the water vapor inside the cover), cover the lucky bamboo together with the flower pot and place it on the floor or table near a window with good light. In a suitable position where it will not scald or burn the branches and leaves, install a 25-100 watt incandescent bulb according to the size of the plant. When the indoor temperature is below 10 degrees, turn on the light (you can turn it on during the day and off at night, place a thermometer inside to observe, as long as it is not below 5 degrees at night), and in this way your pothos can safely get through the winter.
Soil-grown pothos cannot do without water, and watering in winter and summer each has its own principles. In winter you must water less, especially if there is no heating indoors, watering once every 20 days is no problem. When should you water in summer? Look at the potting soil; if it is too dry, the leaves will turn yellow, and if you water too much and the potting soil becomes waterlogged, it will cause root rot and withered leaves.
Almost all flowers are the same; what they want is "do not water if not dry, and when you water, water thoroughly." What they fear most is watering for no reason, and only watering a little each time. At the same time, in summer you can use a spray bottle to appropriately spray water on the leaf surface, washing the dust off the leaves. If you add an appropriate amount of foliar fertilizer, the leaves will be even thicker and more emerald green.
How does pothos get through the winter? In winter, pothos does not need special treatment; just follow normal fertilizing and watering management, because pothos has its own vitality, it will adapt to the environment and grow better naturally, even in the cold winter.
